Apple’s invitation for their September 9 event has ignited speculation, with sharp-eyed fans suggesting that the vibrant logo may hint at two major features of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series: new colors and an eagerly awaited cooling enhancement.

Will iPhone 17 Pro feature new colors?

The logo’s orange and dark blue shades have captured attention after MacRumors suggested they might indicate new finishes for Apple’s flagship iPhone. This speculation aligns with Macworld’s Filipe Espósito, who reported last month that the iPhone 17 Pro will come in five colors:

  • Black

  • White

  • Gray

  • Dark Blue

  • Orange

The introduction of orange would present a bold new choice for Apple, while dark blue continues the trend of offering deep, premium finishes in each Pro model generation.

Advanced cooling system with vapour chamber

In addition to colors, the event’s logo might also be hinting at a functional upgrade. The swirling, heat-map-like design could be a reference to the iPhone 17 Pro’s rumored vapour chamber cooling system.

Reports suggest that all iPhone 17 models will feature redesigned internals to enhance heat dissipation, with Pro models specifically incorporating vapour chamber technology. This system uses a thin, sealed metal chamber with a small amount of liquid. As the phone heats up, the liquid turns to vapor, distributing heat across the chamber’s surface. The vapor then cools and condenses, repeating the cycle to regulate device temperature.

For users, this could mean fewer overheating issues during intensive tasks like gaming, video editing, or prolonged camera use. The vapour chamber would also help manage the expected power output of Apple’s upcoming A19 Pro chip.

Vapour chambers are already common in high-end Android devices like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, but Apple has yet to employ the technology in any iPhone. If the rumors hold true, the iPhone 17 Pro would mark Apple’s first step toward improving thermal performance through hardware.

With the September 9 event approaching, Apple fans won’t have to wait long to find out if the logo indeed hints at orange iPhones and cooler, more powerful Pro models.
