The Mehr News Agency reported that the Iranian President met with his Bolivian counterpart Luis Arce Catacora this Thursday morning for bilateral talks. During the meeting, the Iranian President criticized the unilateral policies of the United States, emphasizing the need for countries seeking independence to enhance their scientific and technical capabilities to protect their sovereignty and national interests, according to Mehr News. He also praised the bilateral relations with Bolivia, asserting that the development of future cooperation depends on the mutual will of senior officials in both countries.
He noted that Iran hopes the ‘snapback’ mechanism will not be activated, but is prepared to face any circumstances, adjusting its policies according to the new situation. On his part, the Bolivian President expressed concern over U.S. incitement to war in the Caribbean region, praised the positive relations between Iran and Bolivia, and called for deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Earlier, the Iranian presidency confirmed on Monday that Iran is fully prepared to confront the European trio’s step to re-impose international sanctions. Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stated that ‘Iran is not an advocate of war but will respond strongly to any enemy move,’ affirming that ‘U.S. unilateral sanctions are the worst imposed on us, and we will continue our path with strength and determination.’
The Russian Foreign Ministry previously announced that Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called the ambassadors of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, pointing out that the ‘European Troika’ lacks the legal grounds to re-impose sanctions on Iran. On August 28, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany (the three EU member states) informed the United Nations Security Council of the activation of the re-imposition mechanism, which was lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement.
