Local media circulated clips documenting the moment of the brawl, which erupted following a debate between Mohammed Al-Mashhadani and MP Alaa Al-Haidari, leading to the session being unable to continue.
The official website of the Iraqi parliament mentioned that “the session was canceled due to lack of quorum.”
The council was scheduled to vote on a number of draft laws, most notably the draft law for the ratification of the agreement on mutual investment promotion and protection between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the draft law on renewable energy regulation and the draft mental health law.
