The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Tuesday evening that the Israeli army is on its way to erecting a wall in the heart of the Jordan Valley. The planned wall is expected to be 22 kilometers long and 50 meters wide. It explained that the army intends to demolish all Palestinian homes and buildings located in its path, in addition to bulldozing crops, pipes, water tanks, and more. The army aims to create a 22-kilometer-long barrier and will demolish homes, sheep pens, and infrastructure, which are considered operational weaknesses. One of the villages will be completely surrounded by a fence.

The newspaper noted that the Israeli army has given the residents of the area a few days to submit their objections to the evacuation. It indicated that advanced stages of constructing a new separation wall in the depth of the Jordan Valley are currently underway, at least 12 kilometers west of the Jordanian border.

It is noted that there is escalating tension with the ongoing Israeli military operations against Palestinians, which include raids, demolitions of homes, and arrests. At the same time, the Palestinian Authority is accused of “targeting its security apparatus and undermining its efforts to achieve security.” This coincides with the Gaza truce, which was reached after about two years of war, resulting in nearly 70,000 Palestinian deaths and about 170,000 injuries.
