This Sunday morning, Israeli Channel 13 reported that a team from the Israeli “Magen David Adom” went to Yerushalmi’s home and took her to the hospital after receiving a phone call from her husband indicating she was ill. The channel explained that her health deterioration seemed to result from taking sleeping pills, with suspicion of an attempted suicide, which prompted her immediate transfer to the “Ichilov” Hospital in Tel Aviv. The channel noted on its website that Yerushalmi had regained consciousness and was in a reassuring condition.

It is worth noting that the Israeli Defense Minister announced on the thirty-first of last month the dismissal of the Military Attorney General, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, from her position after being suspected of involvement in leaking surveillance video from the “Sdeh Teyman” detention center. The footage showed soldiers violently assaulting a Palestinian detainee last year. Katz explained in a statement that “Tomer-Yerushalmi will not return to her position due to the severity of the suspicions and the sensitivity of her role responsible for enforcing the law within the army,” noting that an acting Military Attorney General will be appointed in preparation for selecting her permanent successor, according to the “Times of Israel.”

The footage showed soldiers in the “Sdeh Teyman” detention center dragging a detainee who was then taken to a field base and later to the “Soroka” Hospital in Beersheba in critical condition after being beaten and sexually assaulted. He underwent life-saving surgery, after which the military police began an investigation under the supervision of the Military Attorney General.

In August 2024, Israeli media reported internal Israeli disputes regarding soldiers’ mistreatment of a Hamas prisoner in the “Sdeh Teyman” detention center. The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported at that time that significant disagreements occurred between General Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, and other ministers concerning what happened in the “Sdeh Teyman” detention center located in the Negev Desert, southern Israel.
