Israel’s Intentions in Gaza and Humanitarian Crisis

Adraee emphasized on his Telegram channel that “military operations continue vigorously in areas witnessing terrorist activities or used to launch rocket projectiles towards Israel.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today, Thursday, that Israel intends to take control of the entire Gaza Strip to ensure its security and distance the Palestinian Hamas movement from it.

In response to a question from American media about whether Israel plans to take control of the entire area, he explained: “To ensure our security, we intend to remove Hamas from there and enable the residents to live freely… handing it over not to Hamas nor to those who call for the destruction of Israel.” He added that at the same time, “Israel does not want to retain it,” but intends to establish a security perimeter.

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been experiencing the fiercest war in its history, after Israel launched a wide-scale military campaign in response to a surprise attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement on southern Israel. The war has caused massive destruction in the besieged sector and resulted in tens of thousands of casualties, most of them civilians, amid an almost complete collapse of health and humanitarian infrastructure.

Due to the imposed blockade and blocked land routes, delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents has become a daunting task, especially in the northern and central areas. International and Arab efforts have intensified, including attempts to alleviate the escalating humanitarian disaster, amid warnings of an imminent famine and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
