Beirut – Sputnik. The Jordanian parliamentarian said in an interview with Sputnik on Monday that “the latest statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicates his commitment to the vision of Greater Israel, which fundamentally relies on occupying large parts of Arab lands, including Jordan.” Qubai believes that “according to this vision, Jordan will be completely occupied, which has made the Jordanian government feel threatened.

Qubai explained that “these factors have pushed Jordan to take measures in light of the new reality, such as reactivating military service to train a larger number of Jordanian youth militarily to resist any military action by the occupying state.”

The Jordanian MP emphasized that all Jordanians support this measure. Many Jordanian parties called for the reinstatement of mandatory military service last year, a step supported by all segments of society. He described the Israeli government’s statements as “dangerous and unprecedented from a far-right Israeli government.”

Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani and Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hayari, Director of Military Media in the Jordanian Armed Forces, held a press conference to announce the details of reactivating military service.

Al-Momani confirmed that Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II’s announcement to reactivate military service comes within the framework of a comprehensive national vision to invest in the energies of Jordanian youth, aiming to prepare more disciplined and aware youth capable of actively contributing to the development journey, protecting the nation’s achievements, serving, and defending it. He noted that the necessary financial resources for the program are to be allocated, with activation planned to start in 2026. Jordan had previously announced the cancellation of mandatory service in the early 1990s, which had been in effect before then.
