During its weekly meeting, the council expressed “the Kingdom’s anticipation that the summit results contribute to ending the war in the Gaza Strip, alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, ensuring a complete Israeli withdrawal, and initiating practical steps to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
On Monday, Egypt hosted a peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his American counterpart Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders and delegations from about 20 countries.
Over two years of continuous Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the medical sector, schools, universities, places of worship, infrastructure, and vital resources supporting life in the Strip have been destroyed. Fifteen vital sectors in Gaza have been devastated, resulting in large numbers of civilian Palestinian casualties and injuries.
The Government Media Office in Gaza announced, on the second anniversary of the war on the Gaza Strip, that the Israeli army still controls more than 80% of the area and continues bombing despite ceasefire calls announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. The Israeli army targets densely populated civilian and displaced areas.
Trump announced yesterday, during a press conference at the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit on Gaza, attended by several regional and international leaders, the signing of a “historic” ceasefire document between “Hamas” and Israel, as part of efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
