In an interview with the website “khamenei.ir”, Larijani stated that negotiations will only be fruitful if they are genuine and not a pretext for other objectives. He added, “If they want war, let them start, and when they regret it, they can return to negotiate, but Iranians will not surrender.” He touched on regional issues, emphasizing that “Israeli and American pressures have created resistance movements in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen,” stressing that Tehran’s support for resistance is a “strategic investment” that will continue as before, according to Iran’s “Mehr” news agency.
Larijani also announced the establishment of a Defense Council under the Supreme National Security Council to solve the armed forces’ problems and plan for their needs, pointing out that military and security agencies benefit from the expertise and abilities of experts and youth to face modern challenges.
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran added, “Resistance in the region is strategic capital, and we need the support of the Lebanese ‘Hezbollah’ as much as they need us. We will continue to assist ‘Hezbollah’ as before.” Larijani concluded by affirming that diplomacy will remain a fundamental tool for Iran, but it is conditional on seriousness, warning that any pressures or bets on the Iranian people’s surrender are “nonsense” that will not succeed.
