The White House, in a statement, said that ‘the leaders accepted the American president’s proposal to establish a trilateral mechanism to improve coordination, communication, resolve disputes, and enhance joint efforts to prevent threats.’ The White House noted that the leaders also discussed prospects for ending the war in Gaza and affirmed their commitment to work together to promote peace and security.
The statement mentioned, ‘Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone this evening (Monday) with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and apologized for the Israeli attack on Doha on September 9th.’ Israeli media added, ‘Netanyahu expressed regret for the death of a Qatari security officer in the attack.’
Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, declared last Tuesday that the Israeli assault on Qatar was ‘a blatant violation of international norms and a heinous act, which we classify as state terrorism.’ Earlier this month, Israel launched several raids on a building in a residential area in the heart of the Qatari capital, Doha, where a delegation was conducting talks on the latest U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior, one member of the internal security forces was killed, and several security personnel were wounded.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that ‘the operation was planned and executed by the Israeli side, and it takes full responsibility.’
