Aoun surprised the audience by spontaneously tapping Nabha on the back of the head as he entered the hall designated for delivering the official speech on Lebanese Army Day. Brigadier General Imad Nabha reacted to the Lebanese President’s joke with hearty laughter, amidst the smiles of the attendees at the celebration, according to the Lebanese “Janoubia”. This amusing scene coincided with a speech delivered by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the Army Day celebration, in which he emphasized that there should be no leniency towards those indifferent to saving the nation or unconcerned about its fate.
Aoun stressed the need to seize the historic opportunity to establish the principle of exclusive possession of weapons by the army and security forces alone, throughout all Lebanese territories, saying: “Today before tomorrow.” Lebanese President Joseph Aoun revealed last week that efforts are being made to address the arms issue, noting that “negotiations are progressing slowly but are witnessing some responsiveness to the proposed ideas.”
