In a press statement after his meeting with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, Macron said: “Simply eliminating Hamas will not succeed. This is not the right path. We need a comprehensive process, and we are working hard on the day after.” On Tuesday, Macron emphasized that President Donald Trump’s receipt of a certain award depends on his success in ending the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. He added that the establishment of the State of Palestine, which France announced its recognition of on Monday, will only be achieved “when Israel recognizes it as a state.” He stated, “The United Nations has enormous capabilities, but they do not even come close to the required level,” noting that “he is in perfect shape, unlike the United Nations, and his achievements surpass what the organization has provided over the years.” While asserting that “he should be compensated for the conflicts he ended, which he estimated at 7 wars,” he clarified by saying that what matters to him is “saving lives, ending wars, not receiving awards.”
