Madagascar’s presidency denounced claims by an elite military unit that they had taken control on Tuesday following weeks of anti-government protests, asserting that President Andry Rajoelina continues in his role.
“The presence of armed military forces outside the presidential palace is a clear indication of an attempted coup d’état,” stated the presidency following the CAPSAT’s declaration.
“The president remains fully in office, upholding constitutional order and national stability,” it confirmed.
