Maduro explained, according to Venezuelan media, that “Venezuelans have full trust in their army and support every individual serving in its ranks,” emphasizing that “the cooperation between citizens and the military and police institutions guarantees the continuation of Venezuela’s sovereignty, stability, and security.”

The United States justifies its military presence in the Caribbean Sea as “combating drug trafficking.” In September and October of the previous year, Washington repeatedly used its armed forces to destroy boats allegedly carrying drugs off the coast of Venezuela.

On November 3rd, former President Donald Trump expressed his opinion that “Maduro’s days as Venezuela’s leader are numbered,” while simultaneously affirming that “the United States does not intend to wage war on Venezuela.”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Russia maintains its contact with the Venezuelan leadership amid rising tensions in the Caribbean region and is ready to respond to requests from Caracas.
