The Sudanese army, in a statement, affirmed that “the command of the 19th Infantry Division is fully prepared to counter any attacks targeting the Northern State.”

On October 26, the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces announced their complete control over the city of El Fasher in the Darfur region, western Sudan, following intense battles with the Sudanese army. However, the chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council stated that “the army’s withdrawal from the city was to avoid further destruction.” Yet, observers believe that “the army forces would not have withdrawn from such a strategic city without suffering a definite military defeat.”

Earlier, they also declared control over the strategic city of Bara in North Kordofan after battles with the Sudanese army. However, the spokesperson for the “Sudan Liberation Army” movement, Sadiq Ali Al-Nour, denied the accuracy of these claims to Sputnik, regarding the forces’ announcement of regaining full control over Bara city.

Arab, African, and international parties have mediated to establish a ceasefire, but these mediations have not succeeded in achieving a permanent ceasefire.
