Netanyahu emphasized “the necessity for everyone to continue standing together and fighting together to achieve all the war’s objectives,” adding that “defeating the enemy, releasing the hostages, and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose any threat to Israel” are key goals. Netanyahu announced he will hold a government meeting this week to instruct the military on how to achieve the war’s objectives in Gaza, stressing the need to continue fighting to achieve the war’s goals in the sector.
Earlier today, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated that “Israel rejects any settlement imposed by Hamas,” emphasizing the need for the release of all detainees from the Gaza Strip “without conditions,” as he put it. Sa’ar said in a press conference that “Hamas is trying to impose conditions to ensure its continued rule in Gaza, which Israel flatly rejects,” according to Israeli “i24 News.”
He added that his country “seeks to end the war and release the detainees,” preferring diplomatic solutions, and noted American efforts to formulate a post-war vision and ongoing coordination between Tel Aviv and Washington.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been experiencing the most violent war in the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict after Israel launched a wide-scale military campaign in response to a surprise attack by the Palestinian “Hamas” movement on southern Israel. The war has caused massive destruction in the besieged strip and resulted in tens of thousands of casualties, most of whom are civilians, amid a near-total collapse of health and humanitarian infrastructure.
With the imposed siege and blocked land routes, delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents has become a “daunting task,” especially in the northern and central parts of the strip. International and Arab efforts have intensified, including air-dropping aid, in an attempt to mitigate the worsening humanitarian disaster in the sector, amid warnings of an impending famine and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
