Grossi said in an interview with Sputnik: “We have a highly professional system at the station, and through the system of regular consultations in a general format, we gather all the different parties… This allows us to conduct a comprehensive dialogue on technical issues related to the operation of the station.

On October 22, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Russia requested the International Atomic Energy Agency’s assistance in establishing a ceasefire to restore external power supplies to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

The Russian Foreign Ministry told Sputnik: “On September 23, a strike by Ukrainian forces damaged the Dniprovska power transmission base, which feeds the external power grid of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Although the plant’s reactors are in a cold shutdown state, external power supply is essential for their safe operation.”

The ministry noted that “since September 23, power supply to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been provided by backup diesel generators.”

According to the Foreign Ministry, “after long and difficult consultations, we were able to obtain security guarantees from Ukraine, without which it would have been impossible to repair the damaged power line.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that “repair work on the power line at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant began on October 18 and will take several days.”
