Following his victory in Mexico City, Lando Norris widened his lead in the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship by winning the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, marking his second consecutive triumph and pulling further ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.

The British driver claimed his seventh season win with ease, starting from pole and finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of Italy’s Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes, who achieved a career-best second place, narrowly beating Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Norris scored 33 points, gaining 23 on Piastri, who placed fifth and earned 10 points. With three races to go, Norris leads by 24 points (390-366) over Piastri. Verstappen, who staged a remarkable comeback to finish third, trails Piastri by 25 points and Norris by 49.

Norris credited his focus and McLaren’s efforts, saying, “Just concentrate on yourself and the team. McLaren is doing an amazing job, providing me with a fantastic car. It’s tough work every weekend and off-track, but it’s rewarding. We might not have been the fastest today, but winning is satisfying.”

George Russell secured fourth place, maintaining his position in the championship standings, while Piastri ended up fifth after a contentious 10-second penalty for a collision with Antonelli that led to Charles LeClerc’s withdrawal.

Ferrari faced setbacks as Charles LeClerc and teammate Lewis Hamilton both retired, earning only six points and dropping to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.
