In statements during the fourth session of the Intra-African Trade Fair in Algeria, attended by ‘Sputnik’, he said: ‘This is the story of Africa and its people, those who were scattered, feared, buried, and silenced through centuries of displacement, oppression, exploitation, and marginalization. We are rebuilding.’ Obasanjo called for ‘moving forward with clarity, courage, conviction, and determination to build the global Africa we want and deserve, and which we must build ourselves and share with the world,’ as he put it.
He went on to say: ‘Let us have a firm belief that we must build the global Africa we want and deserve, and build it ourselves, and share it with the world. Let us join together, as we define and lead our future.’ He added: ‘Let us move forward with clarity, courage, conviction, and determination, to learn from the past, and let it drive us towards a better and more beautiful future. We must be more beautiful, for this is the story of Africa and its people.’
Last Thursday, the opening events of the fourth session of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algeria began, marking the first edition organized since the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) came into effect. According to a ‘Sputnik’ correspondent, the launch was attended by the Presidents of Tunisia, Mauritania, Chad, the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, and a large number of African ministers.
The events are organized over several days at the International Conference Center ‘Abdel Latif Rahal’ and the ‘Safex’ Exhibition Palace, with the participation of high-level government delegations from Africa and beyond during the opening, and representatives from major financial institutions, regional banks, and investment companies. Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo delivered a speech at the fourth session of the Intra-African Trade Fair in Algeria.
