Palestinian news agency (Wafa) reported on Saturday evening that medical sources confirmed the killing of 5 citizens and the injury of others by Israeli army gunfire while seeking aid in the Zikim area, northwestern Gaza Strip. Additionally, 5 citizens were killed and others injured, along with several missing, in an Israeli bombing of the Tom family home in the Be’er Al-Naja area west of Jabalia camp, northern Gaza Strip.

In a related context, it was revealed that between May 27 and August 13, at least 1,760 Palestinians were killed while trying to obtain aid, including 994 near the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” sites and 766 on supply convoy routes. It was stated that “most of these crimes were committed by Israeli forces,” and a call was made for an urgent and independent investigation and accountability of those responsible.

Amid a rise in deaths caused by hunger, including children reaching hospitals due to malnutrition, the World Health Organization warned that it could no longer accommodate the increasing number of patients, urging the immediate restoration of access to healthcare.

From October 7, 2023, to August 11 of the current year, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of over 61,000 Palestinians, along with approximately 154,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Israel continues its military operations and recently announced approval of a plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, with its officials, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, continuing to discuss claims of “Greater Israel,” a term that involves occupying the remaining Palestinian territories as well as others.
