Mustafa stated during his speech at a workshop aimed at enhancing the role of local employment and training councils in formulating local labor market strategies, promoting cooperation, and supporting sustainable employment opportunities in Palestine, that “the government is ready, despite the difficulty of the task and the complex environment, with the determination under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas to bear responsibilities towards our people in the Gaza Strip,” according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
He added, “We will emerge from Gaza’s catastrophe to an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas, with the efforts of dedicated national institutions, the New York Declaration, and recognition by 159 countries so far, which is the best evidence of achievement on this path. We want an independent state, free of wars, free of occupation and settlement.”
The Palestinian Prime Minister emphasized that “the difficult economic and financial situation and high unemployment are primarily caused by the occupation, and the removal of the occupation is essential to change that,” noting that the government will do what is necessary to relaunch the national economy, develop institutional work, and enforce law and justice.
The Palestinian Hamas movement released 20 Palestinian prisoners held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, as part of an agreement with Israel on Monday. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office confirmed that Israel released 1,718 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza, in addition to 250 other prisoners serving long-term sentences.
On September 29, 2025, the plan of US President Donald Trump for peace in Gaza, consisting of 20 clauses, was revealed. It called for an immediate ceasefire, with the condition of releasing prisoners within 72 hours. The document also proposed that “Hamas” or any other armed Palestinian factions should have no role in managing the Gaza Strip, and control of the sector should be transferred to a technocratic committee supervised by an international body headed by Trump.
