Qandeel has been appointed as a successor to Nazmi Muhanna. Today, the Palestinian President issued a presidential decree modifying the formation of the nineteenth government, which included the appointment of Mohammed Farouq Zaki Al-Ahmad as Minister of Transport and Communications, granting him confidence under a decision by law, according to Palestinian news agency ‘Wafa’. The new minister is scheduled to take the legal oath before the Palestinian President in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa later.

Last month, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa affirmed the government’s readiness in its plans to rebuild the Gaza Strip and continue deliberations with national, regional, and international parties to achieve this. Mustafa stated during his speech at a workshop to enhance the role of local employment and training councils in formulating local labor market strategies, and to strengthen cooperation and support sustainable job opportunities in Palestine, that ‘the government is ready, despite the challenging task and complex environment, and is determined, under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas, to bear the responsibilities towards our people in the Gaza Strip,’ according to Palestinian news (Wafa).

He added, ‘We will emerge from Gaza’s catastrophe to an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas, and with the efforts of loyal national institutions. The New York Declaration and recognition by 159 countries so far is the best evidence of achievement on this path. We want an independent state, free from wars, occupation, and settlement.’ The Palestinian Prime Minister emphasized that ‘the difficult financial economic situation and high unemployment are primarily caused by the occupation, and the removal of occupation is essential to change this,’ noting that the government will do what is necessary to relaunch the national economy, improve institutional work, and enforce law and justice.
