The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a one-hour delay for the Asia Cup match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, amid uncertainties about the match proceeding, reports Pakistan’s Dawn.
With PCB’s threat to boycott the tournament, the Pakistan team had not yet arrived at Dubai International Stadium, with just over an hour left before the crucial group stage match toss against the UAE on Wednesday in the ongoing Asia Cup.
Pakistan canceled the pre-match press conference on Tuesday but went ahead with a practice session. This decision was directly tied to their dissatisfaction with ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, whom the PCB demanded be replaced.
The controversy erupted when India refused to shake hands with Pakistani players after their significant 7-wicket victory in Sunday’s rivalry match in Dubai. In response, Pakistan expressed its disappointment by withdrawing from the post-match presentation.
