Jessica Pegula advanced to her second consecutive US Open semifinal, defeating two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova with a decisive 6-3, 6-3 victory on Tuesday. This match was the first of the day at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Despite a challenging lead-up to this year’s final major tournament, the fourth-ranked Pegula has turned her performance around in New York, maintaining an unbeaten set record. She delivered 17 impressive winners to overcome the unseeded Czech player.
Krejcikova, who returned from injuries earlier this year, made it to the quarterfinals by saving eight match points in a thrilling fourth-round match. However, she couldn’t sustain her momentum against the 2024 runner-up.
