Peskov, in an interview with Russia’s Channel One, commented on reports regarding Vladimir Zelensky’s alleged desire to hold referendums on regional issues, saying, “We want to work for peace, not for a truce.” He noted that if this initiative becomes an excuse for a temporary truce, “it will not succeed.” Peskov added that peace in Ukraine should be long-lasting and supported by reliable guarantees.
Peskov told Channel One Russia, “What is required is a guaranteed, long-term peace that is understandable to everyone and supported by reliable guarantees. This is what we want.”
The Russian presidential spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated today, Friday, that holding a referendum on regional issues is an excuse to demand a truce period, emphasizing that Russia wants to work for peace, not for a truce.
Peskov pointed out in an interview with Russia’s Channel One, commenting on media reports that Zelensky allowed the possibility of holding a “nationwide referendum” on regional issues, “If we are talking about creating an excuse to demand a ceasefire, a truce, or a temporary halt (of combat operations) on the front, this will certainly not succeed. Because we want to work for peace, not for a truce.”
