Pistachios Aid Blood Sugar Control in Prediabetes

The new study indicates that to regulate blood sugar levels at night and in the early morning, individuals with prediabetes are advised to consume a light snack of pistachios in the evening.

According to the study, as reported by the website ‘Aponet.de’, consuming about 60 grams of pistachios in the evening leads to a balance in blood sugar levels. It also helps improve gut microbiome over 12 weeks, as some ‘beneficial’ bacteria that produce useful fatty acids become more prevalent after consuming pistachios, while harmful bacteria are present in fewer numbers.

The study concluded that pistachios significantly help alter conditions in adults with prediabetes, especially when consumed as an evening snack. According to the study, these changes in the microbiome can offer additional long-term health benefits, as they work to slow the progression of type 2 diabetes or reduce systemic inflammations.
