In a televised speech broadcast on his social media accounts today, Saturday, Fico said, “Presidents (Putin and Trump) have launched a vital operation in Alaska. This operation has today become a major trap for the European Union. The coming days will show whether the big players in the Union will support this operation and push for a quick end to the Ukrainian conflict, or if they will continue with the failed European strategy that attempted to weaken Russia through this conflict.
The Slovak Prime Minister added that the meeting between Putin and Trump “officially launched the process of standardizing relations between Moscow and Washington,” reminding that his party has long advocated for rebuilding relations between the European Union and Russia, although the European Union currently shows no interest in this path.
Earlier on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump held talks in Alaska. The presidents met at the “Elmendorf-Richardson” military base, where the talks, conducted in a “3 vs 3” format, lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
