A study published in ‘Advanced Healthcare Materials’ mentioned that the scientific team used a patch based on the ‘electrospun microneedle’ technology inspired by bee stings. The researchers tested the patch using a drug designed to treat Alzheimer’s patients on guinea pigs. The results showed an improvement in drug absorption, as the patch doubled the absorbed quantity and covered an area five times larger.

The journal indicates that this technology could revolutionize the field of drug delivery by providing long-term, painless treatment. It notes that the South Korean scientific team plans to expand its applications to treat a wide range of conditions, especially in children and the elderly.
