Globally, more companies are incorporating Bitcoin (BTC) into their balance sheets, as noted by experts. Some have shared how their firms consistently invest in cryptocurrency to achieve substantial returns.
Danny Yeung, Co-Founder and CEO of health science company Prenetics, revealed that the company has been purchasing one Bitcoin daily since inception. “We buy one BTC every day and intend to continue,” he stated. “Currently, we hold around 505 Bitcoins, and we view this as a strategy to hedge against inflation, delivering significant value to our shareholders.”
During the Bitcoin Mena summit, speakers discussed how more companies are transforming into Bitcoin treasury firms, allocating a substantial part of their reserves to BTC rather than just cash, bonds, or stocks.

Eric Benz, CEO of Bitcoin treasury vehicle Vaultz Capital PLC, attributes the trend to the belief in BTC as the most robust asset available. “Holding cash on a balance sheet results in inevitable depreciation in real terms,” he told Khaleej Times. “Bitcoin provides asymmetric upside and serves as a hedge against fiat erosion. For a listed company, it offers shareholders a way to gain BTC exposure through existing brokerage accounts – no wallets, no exchanges, no custody issues.”
He also noted that pioneers like MicroStrategy have paved the way, with recent contributions from companies such as Metaplanet in Japan and Phoenix Group in Abu Dhabi accelerating this trend.
Emerging Trend
During a panel discussion, Selim Chidiac of Chidiac Investments Limited observed that the trend is growing among businesses seeking to protect long-term value. “A Bitcoin treasury company adopts a long-term perspective on its balance sheet,” he explained. “These companies bolster their assets with Bitcoin similarly to gold or real estate.”
While public companies encounter regulatory complexities, private and family-owned businesses are quietly becoming early adopters. “It’s much simpler for private firms to add Bitcoin,” Chidiac noted. “Some family-owned businesses that purchased BTC years ago now find their Bitcoin holdings surpass their core operations.”
He cited the example of the US burger chain Steak ‘n Shake. “They integrated Bitcoin into their balance sheet and now use it as a payment method,” he said. “The CEO mentioned in Vegas that it’s faster and cheaper for them to receive payments in Bitcoin than in fiat. That’s remarkable, and it’s just the beginning.”
Innovations in Digital Credit
Beyond investment, experts highlighted how Bitcoin can unlock new financial services for companies. Shawn Owen of Salt Lending mentioned that more businesses could access credit with emerging products. “Innovation in digital credit holds significant potential,” he stated. “We’re witnessing innovation in insurance, custody, credit, and lending.”
He further elaborated that once a company holds BTC, it naturally paves the way for borrowing against Bitcoin, extending credit, and employing strategies that the “ultra-wealthy” have historically used with traditional assets. He emphasized that cryptocurrency allows small businesses to access opportunities previously reserved for banks and affluent individuals.
