Shoigu stated in an interview with the agency: “Work has started immediately.” Shoigu explained that the specialized agencies, in cooperation with experts from the Russian Security Council, are modeling possible actions to deal with current challenges as well as their potential development.

In the same interview, Shoigu pointed out that Tokyo, in its quest to please Washington, is sacrificing its national interests, while at the same time relentlessly seeking funding to increase its military capabilities. He said, “In an attempt to please Washington, Tokyo sacrifices its national interests, but it is relentlessly seeking funds to accelerate the armament process.”

Previously, the Russian president issued instructions for a comprehensive analysis within the Security Council framework to assess viability. Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, stated earlier that the US position on the possible resumption of nuclear tests remains unclear, and Washington has yet to clarify exactly what it means. He noted that Russia is fully committed to the objectives of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.

He pointed out that the American side has not provided any clarification so far on what it intends to do exactly, adding: “Therefore, we consider it extremely important to discuss this issue here and now, as it directly relates to the organization’s mandate.”

The American president announced earlier that he ordered nuclear weapons tests “on an equal footing” with other countries that allegedly have related programs.
