Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, “We expect that His Majesty the King of Jordan will be able to participate in the first Russian-Arab summit in October, which will provide an additional opportunity to communicate with President Putin.” Lavrov explained that Russia supports starting negotiations between Palestine and Israel as soon as possible, noting that the most important step is overcoming the humanitarian crisis.

Lavrov pointed out that “the negotiations should address the final status of the Palestinian territories and the establishment of the Palestinian state, contrary to the United Nations decision being undermined by the West.” Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the leaders and the Secretary-General of the Arab League in May to participate in the first Russian-Arab summit, which Russia intends to hold on October 15.

“Dear heads of state and governments! I warmly greet you on the occasion of the opening of the thirty-fourth summit of the Arab League… We are determined to continue developing constructive dialogue with the Arab League and friendly relations with all its members,” he continued. “In this regard, I would like to invite all leaders of your member states, as well as the Secretary-General of the League, to participate in the first Russian-Arab summit that we intend to hold on October 15.”

Putin expressed confidence in enhancing multifaceted mutual cooperation between the countries, which will help find ways to ensure peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa.
