Al-Abed added in statements to ‘Sputnik’ that the Russian draft does not mention the issue of the Peace Council, which is proposed by America to oversee the Gaza Strip, and rejects any attempt at demographic change in the Gaza Strip, including anything that would reduce the area of the sector.

He confirmed that the draft of the Russian project came to thwart the American plan, which aims to make the Gaza Strip part of American guardianship and control without any political horizon for the Palestinian issue, despite America’s attempts to add cosmetic formulations that do not affect the seriousness of the decision.

He emphasized that the American draft proposal represents a significant threat, not only to the Gaza Strip but to the entire Palestinian issue.

Today, Saturday, details of the draft resolution submitted by Moscow regarding Gaza were announced, confirming that they were compelled to prepare an alternative project to the American draft because it did not include internationally recognized legal foundations.

The mission stated in a statement that Security Council resolutions ‘must reflect the agreed international legal framework and affirm the fundamental solutions and principles, foremost among them the two-state solution formula for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolution,’ noting that these principles were completely absent from the American project, prompting Russia to formulate an alternative project aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the Gaza Strip.

The statement added that ‘the draft resolution calls on the UN Secretary-General to prepare a report including options for implementing the relevant clauses of the American President Donald Trump’s plan, with an emphasis on the utmost importance of preserving the international legal basis accumulated over decades regarding the Middle East settlement according to the two-state formula.’

The permanent Russian mission to the United Nations also confirmed that the draft resolution proposed by Russia to the Security Council regarding Gaza does not contradict the American initiative. The mission’s statement said: ‘We see that the goal of our draft resolution is to amend the American concept to bring it as close as possible to the long-agreed UN resolutions.’

Previously, America proposed a draft resolution in the UN Security Council regarding the deployment of an international security force in the Gaza Strip as part of the ceasefire agreement reached in the sector. The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10.
