India Sweeps Series with Dominant Win Over West Indies

India secured a commanding 2-0 series win over West Indies by clinching a seven-wicket victory in the final test at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 121 against a modest West Indies bowling lineup, India reached the goal during the morning session of the last day, with KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten 58 and B Sai Sudharsan adding 39.

“It’s a tremendous honor and I’m getting accustomed to it,” said captain Shubman Gill, celebrating his first series win since becoming the test skipper earlier this year.

“Leading this team and managing the players is a great privilege.”

India won the first match in Ahmedabad in just three days and dominated the second test by scoring 518-5 before declaring their first innings.

West Indies were dismissed for 248 in their first innings and had to follow on.

In their second innings, the visitors showed resilience, with centuries from John Campbell and Shai Hope helping them reach 390 all out, extending the match to the final day.

Starting at 63-1, India took just an hour to chase down the target, though West Indies did manage two wickets with impressive catches.

West Indies captain Roston Chase removed Sudharsan, thanks to a low catch by Hope in the slips.

Gill (13) hit a six and a four before mistiming a delivery from Rose. Justin Greaves ran in from midwicket to take a spectacular catch.

With that, the drama ended as Rahul hit the winning boundary to secure India’s triumph.

India’s spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who took eight wickets in the match, was named player of the match, while teammate Ravindra Jadeja was player of the series.

West Indies captain Chase noted some positives from the loss.

“Campbell and Hope’s centuries were positives for us,” he said.

“Batting 100 overs after a long time and taking the game to the fifth day were also encouraging signs.”
