The Russian Defense Ministry stated in a statement: “Unmanned reconnaissance drones from the 61st Marine Infantry Brigade, near the city of Kherson, spotted a boat carrying soldiers. The drone crews then engaged the identified target, as well as the enemy evacuation site.”
The governor of Russia’s Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, earlier confirmed that Russian forces are engaged in battles to liberate the Korabel area on the “Karanten” Island in the region and are striking at positions and targets of the Ukrainian armed forces.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Defense, the “Dnieper” group of forces improved its tactical position and launched attacks on three brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces in the areas of Stepnohors’k, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Nikolske in the Kherson region.
The Kherson region is a Russian area located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper River, bordered by the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. The region became part of Russia following a referendum held in September 2022. Currently, 75% of the Kherson region is under Russian control, while Ukrainian forces control part of the right bank of the Dnieper River, including the city of Kherson.
