Salam stated in a conversation with “Sputnik Radio” that “the targeting at this time aims to undermine the American proposal to stop the war on Gaza and release prisoners, which Hamas initially agreed to. Details and implementation procedures were under discussion, with the extremist coalition led by Ben Gvir and Smotrich insisting on continuing the war until achieving its goals of displacing the people of Gaza, establishing settlements, and annexing the strip to the Zionist entity.
Salam emphasized that this requires an Arab movement that rises to the level of the event, through withdrawing ambassadors and pulling out of the Abraham Accords, and resorting to the United Nations and international institutions such as the UN Security Council, the European Union, and the group of Asian countries to condemn this attack on a founding member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in clear violation of international laws.
