The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) confirmed on Monday that the announcement came at the conclusion of a visit by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during which he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both sides welcomed the signing of the agreement for the high-speed electric train link between the two countries, which connects the cities of Riyadh and Doha via Dammam and Al-Hofuf.

The Saudi and Qatari sides explained that this project is one of the major strategic initiatives, aligning with the goals of the “Saudi Vision 2030” and the “Qatar National Vision 2030.” It aims to facilitate tourist and trade movements and enhance communication between the two brotherly Arab peoples.

The parties also welcomed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding during the visit in fields such as rail transport, investment promotion, media, and cooperation in the non-profit sector.

This project is expected to redraw the commercial and tourist movement map between the two Arab countries with a network extending 785 kilometers, accommodating over 10 million passengers annually.

The high-speed train is expected to connect two of the most important regional airports, Riyadh and Hamad International Airport in Doha, providing travelers and investors with faster and more flexible options to move between global business and aviation hubs.
