Saudi news agency SPA reported on Tuesday evening that during the phone call, discussions were held on issues of mutual interest and efforts to establish security and stability and achieve economic recovery in Syria. The phone call came one day after Shar’ received congratulatory telegrams from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the occasion of ‘Liberation Day.’
The Syrian Interim President attended a military parade in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Monday in celebration of the ‘Liberation Day’ anniversary. The Syrian news agency SANA reported that the military parade was organized by the Syrian Ministry of Defense on the Mazzeh Highway in Damascus. The parade coincided with helicopter flights in the sky.
SANA explained that the celebrations took place amid intense security preparations in the Umayyad Square and its surroundings in Damascus to secure the festivities. SANA also reported that Shar’ received a piece of the Kaaba’s curtain bearing some Quranic verses to be placed in the Umayyad Mosque in the capital, Damascus.
Shar’ stated, ‘We remember the crowds of revolutionaries and heroic fighters and how they marked a new history for the entire nation upon entering Damascus.’
