Shalini Passi, known for her candid honesty and fashion sense, shares insights in an exclusive interview about her role in Aaryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood, her dream of working with SRK, and her upcoming projects.

How has your life changed since your debut on reality TV?

The overwhelming love from global fans has been humbling and has fueled my ambition. Being in front of the camera is a new, powerful experience, and I aim to use it to advocate for women’s equality and other significant issues. The support I’ve received inspires me to do more.

You’ve been a fixture in Delhi’s social circuit, from fashion weeks to parties. Why transition to Bollywood now?

Despite my active social life and global fashion week attendance, I had a camera phobia until 2018, fearing I appeared too intense. This fear held me back from earlier opportunities, including school offers for Doordarshan series and modeling. I faced my fears in 2018 and embraced the camera.

What are your upcoming acting endeavors?

I’m discussing a new series with OTT platforms and filming a holiday-themed series releasing this December. I’ve also played a small role in a Madhur Bhandarkar film, set for next year. Alongside acting, my art foundation, MASH, continues to support Indian artists through various programs.

You’ve worked with the Khans — Gauri, SRK, and appeared in Aaryan’s series. How was that experience, and do you wish to work with Shah Rukh Khan?

Appearing in Aryan’s series was a delight; he’s very special to me, and I enjoyed working with him. The experience was luxurious, making me feel like a VVIP. Being on-screen with Shah Rukh Khan is a dream — his global icon status is unmatched.

What was it like organizing the MASH Ball 2025 in Mumbai?

The MASH Ball, supporting UNICEF India, was a success with a ‘Fashion in Films’ theme. I curated the art and managed aesthetics. Unlike Delhi, Mumbai events run more by the book, but maintaining privacy was a priority, declining entourages to ensure a delightful evening.

Your straightforwardness contrasts with typical industry norms. How do you balance this with showbiz?

While complex, I value honesty and pride. Personal traits define us, whether in film, art, or fashion, setting us apart and guiding us forward.

Your love for fashion, art, and extravagant styles is well-known. What are your favorite couture brands?

I adore Dolce & Gabbana for their fit and Judith Leiber accessories. Though I’ve paused on Hermès bags due to their ubiquity and replicas, I admire Indian designers like Manish Malhotra and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.

Your fans admire your skin. What’s your skincare routine?

Healthy skin starts with diet. My routine includes washing my face multiple times daily, using La Mer products, and never sleeping with makeup. I also use fermented rice water and green tea while traveling, and ensure I get enough sleep.

What’s your biggest fear?

I strive to live without fear, but I fear ineffectiveness. I want to make the most of life and continuously explore and experiment.

How does spirituality influence your daily life?

Spirituality invigorates and grounds me, through meditation, prayer, or visiting shrines. It provides strength and self-belief.

What are your goals for the coming years?

I aim to grow in front of the camera while using glamour for meaningful causes, such as advocating for women’s issues and promoting Indian culture and UNICEF’s work in India.
