Sharjah Safari, the largest safari park outside Africa, launched its fifth season on Sunday, marking the occasion with the announcement of two exciting animal births. The park welcomed its fifth African Savannah elephant calf and, for the first time, twin ring-tailed lemurs.

Operated by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, the safari shared that its veterinary and nutrition teams have been closely monitoring the elephant calf and its mother since birth. The African Savannah elephant plays a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance as a keystone species.

Native to Madagascar, the ring-tailed lemur is globally recognized as endangered. The safari highlighted the birth of the twins as a rare and special event.

In addition to these new arrivals, Sharjah Safari recorded 184 births of birds and mammals during the second quarter of 2025. The park is currently home to 151 species, including giraffes, lions, elephants, rhinos, and rare birds.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the EPAA, commented, “The new season furthers Sharjah Safari’s tradition of success, with each birth underscoring the effectiveness of our breeding and care initiatives. These achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to ecological balance and the dedication of our skilled veterinarians, nutritionists, and environmental specialists.”

Al Suwaidi also emphasized that the safari serves both as a recreational venue and an educational resource, providing families and students with insights into biodiversity and conservation efforts.

Sharjah Safari welcomes visitors daily from 8:30 am to 6 pm, offering gold, silver, and bronze ticket options.
