The Israeli newspaper ‘Maariv’ reported on Thursday evening that Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob has issued a decision to ban all weapons and military equipment sent from Slovenia to Israel, imported from Israel, or transported through Slovenian territory. The newspaper confirmed that the Slovenian government approved a decisive decision to ban arms trade with Israel. This decision, initiated by Prime Minister Robert Golob, includes a complete ban on the export, import, and transfer of weapons and military equipment to and from Israel.
Golob’s decision was conveyed in clear terms: “The residents of Gaza die as a result of systematic deprivation, as they perish under the rubble without access to water, food, and basic medical care. In such circumstances, it is the duty of every responsible state to act, even if it requires taking a proactive step.”
Robert Golob added, “Due to internal disagreements and division, the European Union is currently unable to undertake this task.” The newspaper reported that Slovenia, which recognized Palestine last June, has repeatedly called for an end to the war in the Gaza Strip. The residents suffer from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of widespread famine and rising death rates due to malnutrition, especially among children, the sick, and the disabled.
Since October 7, 2023, until this July, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of about 60,000 Palestinians and approximately 145,000 injuries, according to health ministry data.
