The office clarified through the “X” platform that the success of these negotiations depends on securing interests, which include disarmament in the southwestern region of Syria, along with ensuring the safety and security of the Druze community in Syria. It noted that the anticipated agreement will be similar to the 1974 agreement, but emphasized that this “by no means implies normalizing relations with Tel Aviv.” In statements to the Turkish newspaper “Milliyet,” reported by “Syrian TV,” Al-Sharaa said, “We know how to fight, but we no longer wish for war,” considering the recent events in As-Suwayda as a “deliberate trap” that coincided with the negotiations nearing their end.

Al-Sharaa considered Israel’s targeting of the presidential building and the Ministry of Defense in the capital, Damascus, as a “gesture,” yet at the same time, he pointed out that reaching a security agreement with them has become inevitable, despite deep doubts about Israel’s commitment to it.
