Shar’a noted that he met with the world’s greats and politicians in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He pointed out that all of them appreciated what the Syrian people have done and achieved, according to the Syrian News Agency ‘SANA’ on Friday. He explained that his dialogues with world leaders confirmed the rejection of calls to divide Syria, adding: ‘The unity of the people is an unavoidable duty and a basis for rebuilding it under the law.’
In June, Donald Trump stated that he decided to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria to give Damascus a chance to grow and move forward. In the same month, the new Governor of the Syrian Central Bank, Abdul Qader Al-Hasri, announced the reconnection of the Syrian financial system with the global financial system ‘SWIFT.’
It is noteworthy that the Western sanctions imposed since 2011 have besieged the country’s economy until Western countries began lifting sanctions on Damascus following the fall of the Assad government and the assumption of Ahmad Shar’a as the head of Syria for the transitional phase.
