The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported this Wednesday evening that Al-Sharaa discussed with Kalın the developments regarding the agreement with the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), affirming the unity and integrity of Syrian territories. The agency quoted a statement from the Syrian presidency, noting that the meeting addressed regional developments.
Kalın’s visit to Damascus followed the announcement of reaching a “roadmap” for resolving the crisis in the southern Syrian province of As-Suwayda, which was achieved by Syria, Jordan, and the United States. The visit of the head of the Turkish intelligence agency came two days after the meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Doha on the sidelines of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit to discuss the Israeli attack on Qatar.
The discussions between Al-Sharaa and Kalın focused on developments in Syria, efforts to achieve stability, maintain Syria’s unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the evolving situation in the region amidst the escalating Israeli aggression. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the “roadmap” for resolving the crisis in As-Suwayda, reaffirming its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability for all components of the Syrian people, based on principles of respect for territorial integrity, unity, and sovereignty.
The “roadmap” emphasizes that As-Suwayda is an integral part of Syria and has no future outside it, asserting that the province’s residents are Syrian citizens with equal rights and duties. Meanwhile, the “roadmap” seeks to establish and provide practical foundations for addressing political and humanitarian conditions in the province.
