The Israeli newspaper ‘Yedioth Ahronoth’ reported on Tuesday that General Zamir presented to Netanyahu’s government what he called ‘all the security implications, risks, and opportunities before launching the ground phase in Gaza City.’ Zamir explained that ‘the military forces are now deepening the achievement that will bring the country closer to the end of the war,’ statements that come amid noticeable tension with the political leadership of Netanyahu’s government.

It is noted that Israel’s plan to control the city, known as ‘Gideon Wagons 2’, includes forcibly displacing about one million Palestinians to the southern sector, which has caused widespread international criticism of Israel, which continued its preparations to implement the plan despite all the warnings.

Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of famine outbreaks and rising deaths due to malnutrition, especially among children, patients, and people with disabilities.

From October 7, 2023, to August 21, 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of about 62,000 Palestinians, in addition to about 157,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed Moscow’s concern about the escalation of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the civilian casualties, affirming that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation and looks forward to returning to the path of peace.
