Terrorist Cell Dismantled in Damascus Countryside

The ministry explained through its Telegram channel that the operation was carried out following precise field monitoring and continuous surveillance of the terrorist cell’s movements. This led to the arrest of one member and the elimination of two others, one of whom attempted to detonate his explosive belt during the confrontation, according to the Syrian news agency SANA. Individual weapons, various ammunition, and an explosive belt prepared for detonation were confiscated.

The ministry pointed out that this operation falls within its proactive strategy and efforts to eliminate threats, affirming the readiness and competence of its personnel in protecting the nation’s security and citizens. Last month, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced in a statement that internal security units in the Damascus countryside, in collaboration with the General Intelligence Service, successfully dismantled a ‘terrorist’ cell active in the towns of Sa’sa and Kanaker in the western countryside of Damascus.

During the operation, security units managed to confiscate rocket launch platforms, 19 Grad missiles, in addition to anti-armor missiles, individual weapons, and large quantities of various ammunition. The statement noted that the case was referred to the competent judicial authorities to complete legal procedures, while security agencies continue to investigate the detainees to uncover all connections and objectives associated with the cell.
