The Supreme Court of Thailand decided on Tuesday that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra inappropriately served his 2023 prison sentence in a hospital suite, mandating him to complete one year in prison.
“His hospital stay was unauthorized. The defendant was aware that his illness was not urgent, and time spent in the hospital does not qualify as serving a prison sentence,” a judge declared in the ruling.
