The start of the school year often brings jitters, but this time, The English College, Dubai, offers joy: record-breaking A-level results, impressive BTECs, and a new STEAM building ready to debut.
This summer, 43% of the school’s A-level entries achieved A*–A grades, with 11% at A*, and a 98% overall pass rate. The school’s additional pathways excelled too: at BTEC Level 3, 40% of entries earned Distinction*, with several students achieving DDD*.
The GCSE results were outstanding as well, with 43% of entries graded 9–7 and 92% graded 9–4. The top student scored seven Grade 9s and two Grade 8s.
Behind these numbers are remarkable student achievements. Year 13 student Mikalia Thomas secured a spot at the University of Cambridge with a 90% scholarship to study Land Economy. Other students are heading to prestigious universities worldwide, including Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Texas at Austin, and NYU Abu Dhabi; 52 EC students hold offers from Russell Group Universities.

Principal Emily Hopkinson shares the excitement as families prepare for school: “I am delighted to welcome our students and families back to The English College for another thrilling year of learning and growth. This year is significant with the opening of our cutting-edge STEAM building, offering world-class facilities in Design Technology, Robotics, Graphics, and STEAM curricula for all students. Our new teachers, aligned with our vision for students to learn, thrive, and make a difference, bring fresh expertise and passion to our community. Following our record-breaking A Level and GCSE results, we aim to build on this success and inspire every student to reach their fullest potential.”
Positive results and clear progress. As students pack their bags and polish their shoes, EC’s message remains clear and reassuring: High aspirations, excellent teaching, and a nurturing community make the biggest impact.
