The new study indicated that regularly consuming foods and beverages rich in “Vitamin D” helps the body receive appropriate doses of the recommended daily value. According to the study published by “Times of India,” Vitamin D is often known as the “sunshine vitamin,” and it is essential for strong bones, immune function, and overall health. The daily value for Vitamin D ranges between 600 and 800 international units for adults.
Fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, are sources of Vitamin D. 100 grams of salmon contain about 400 international units of Vitamin D, which is equivalent to 55% of the daily value. Cod liver oil can be consumed to obtain Vitamin D, as it is a rich source of Vitamin D and also contains a good amount of Vitamin A and Omega-3 fatty acids. Eating a large egg provides 5% (equivalent to 41 international units) of the daily value, and adding eggs to the diet improves overall health.
Liver, especially beef liver, is a good source of Vitamin D, but it should be noted that it is not suitable for pregnant women. A 100-gram serving of liver contains about 1.1 micrograms of Vitamin D. Most types of milk are fortified with Vitamin D to help prevent its deficiency. Drinking one cup of fortified milk provides about 15-20% of the daily value. There are some types of breakfast cereals that are fortified with Vitamin D, which can provide enough Vitamin D for vegetarians.
Mushrooms produce Vitamin D when exposed to ultraviolet rays. Wild edible mushrooms or UV-treated mushrooms should be chosen to obtain more Vitamin D compared to traditionally grown types. The study concluded the necessity of obtaining the daily dose of Vitamin D, which plays an important role in reducing inflammation, contributing to the decrease in advanced cancer cases and related deaths.
