Trump Discusses Tomahawk Missiles with Ukraine

Washington – President Trump stated in a press interview that the United States cannot provide all its weapons to Ukraine. Trump said, “Ukraine asked me for Tomahawk missiles, and I am considering it. I spoke with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin about this matter, and he was not pleased… but we must remember one thing, which is that we ourselves need them.

In the same context, media reports indicated that Vladimir Zelensky was informed during their meeting on Friday at the White House that the United States does not intend to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles at the moment. According to Axios, citing informed sources, Trump said during the bilateral lunch that he was not sure whether the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles encouraged Russian President Vladimir Putin to initiate new talks, but noted that Putin seems focused on reaching a peace agreement.

The Axios report stated that Zelensky “pressed hard” for the missiles, but Trump refused the request and showed “inflexibility,” asserting that he does not plan to supply Kyiv with Tomahawks at the present time.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Trump on Thursday, which was the longest since the start of the US president’s second term, lasting two and a half hours. Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov mentioned that the focus was on the Ukrainian crisis, indicating Russia’s commitment to a diplomatic solution and providing detailed assessments of the situation.

The discussion also covered the possibility of supplying missiles, with Putin emphasizing that such weapons would not change the situation on the ground but would significantly harm relations between Moscow and Washington.
