Moscow – Sputnik. On June 17, during a phone conversation with Modi, Trump expressed his great pride in ending the military escalation between India and Pakistan, and mentioned that Pakistan would nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump ignored Modi’s comments, but this disagreement and Modi’s refusal to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize played a significant role in the deterioration of relations between the two leaders, according to the newspaper. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported last Tuesday that four times over the past weeks, the Indian Prime Minister refused to speak with him. In February, Trump stated that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, and in January, the President of East Timor, José Ramos-Horta, said he might nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if his efforts resulted in a peaceful resolution to conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his support for nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize if he became a peacemaker, adding that this award is no longer relevant. In early July, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed Trump that he had formally sent a letter to the Nobel Prize Committee endorsing the nomination of the American president for the prestigious award. In the same month, Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe stated that Trump deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, as did anyone who contributed to resolving the conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In June, the Pakistani government announced its nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 in recognition of his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent escalation between Pakistan and India.
